Day Care Field Trip!!

I had the opportunity to chaperone on one of the daycare field trips this year. I am so glad that I did!!

What a blast this was!! It was incredible! Highly reccommended. They have all kinds of animals - some penned some not. The Grizzley bears, Bobcats and such were caged, but the deer, goats, ducks, geese, chickens, and rabbits would just roam around. They had no problem coming right up to you looking for food. At first some of the kids weren't quite sure what to do, but they warmed up quickly. They were instructed to hold their hands flat and fingers together. Otherwise the animals might think their fingers were carrots and bite. Here's Kyla feeding a deer. Last year she didn't like it at all, but this year she was willing to give it a try. Nice job, Peanut!

As you can see, the animals just make themselves at home. I can't tell you how many noses I had in... undesirable areas.

Colton had no problem sharing his tray on the stroller. The goats and smaller deer just loved it!

Finally, it was time for lunch. The kids did a great job. The 2 & 3 year olds were "sharing" their lunches or just eating whatever they wanted regardless of who it belonged to.

After lunch the kids all lined up and learned a little about all kinds of animals. They even got to pet a Possum, a Hedgehog, and a Woodchuck!

This is the Don King of Ducks.

Then came the pony rides. This was Kyla's favorite part of the day. She was grinning from ear to ear the entire time she was on that pony. She kinda glossed over the fact that the entire ride had to stop so her pony could... um... er... take care of business.

Colton even got in on the action. I don't think he enjoyed it as much as Kyla did, but he was a trooper.

Now it was Colton's turn to feed the animals. Here he is with a Scottish Highlander and a Donkey. Linda placed some feed in his hand and helped him keep his hand flat.

Colton wasn't a fan. He much preferred it when the animals would eat off of the stroller.

Before we all piled onto the bus we sat down for a little snack.

You've heard that saying about a picture being worth a thousand words...
