Feed the Starving Animals

Oh, my boy. You'd think that I never feed the kid. I happend to spill some dry cereal on the floor and all of a sudden I hear a, "ME!" from across the room followed by the loud scamper of feet. You should have seen the mad dash. I'm not sure who got there first, but both Abby and Colton were on a mission.

Colton's Summer 'do

Colton is a hot boy. And with his exzema it's hard to keep him from over-heating. So, we thought we'd give him a summer haircut. Brady was pretty nervous about it but he did a great job.

The Before

Here he goes...

Colton did such a great job holding still!

The After.

So, here we are at my parent's to celebrate Gigi's birthday. After a wonderful meal that included corn on the cob, we were looking for the toothpicks. We couldn't seem to find them anywhere. And then I found Colton.

He knew exatly where to look. Darn corn.

That's right, my garden!

The Stink Eye

No, Colton isn't giving me the Stink Eye. We think he was stung by a wasp. This actually looks better than when I picked him up from daycare. I hardly recognized him - his right eye was darn near swollen shut. Doing the "mom thing" I called the clinic and they suggested that I bring him in to Urgent Care. I didn't think it was that important so I asked if there was an opening first thing the next morning. Lucky for me there was. Great! We had an appointment at 8:30 the next morning. I no sooner hung up the phone and round the kids up to go in the house when Colton takes a digger in the drive way. No big deal, right? He's done that thousands of times before. Well this time he just cries out, "Momma!" and won't put any weight on his right foot. CRAP!! Urgent care, here we come. We had plans to go to my parents that night to celebrate my dad's birthday, so Brady and Kyla went to my parents house and Colton and I headed off to Urgent Care. $40, 3 hours, and a couple of X-Rays later, we were informed that the X-Ray looked good and, "Yup, he was bit by a bug." Great. Off to Grandpa's birthday we go! Colton was such a trooper. He didn't care much for the X-Ray machine so I had to get up on the table with him. Other than that he was so good, so happy.

Isn't She Cute?

At the annual Family Picnic, cousin Amanda painted the kids' faces. Here's Kyla showing off her artwork.

I just love that face!!

Road Trip!

Happy Fourth of July!!
Here we go! Off to Uncle Kris and Auntie Justina's house for the Fourth of July weekend. Poor Colton put on his cool shades and got a little shut eye.
"What? They're all going to stay here with us? For how long?"
Here's Colton meeting baby Max. He wanted to hug and kiss him all weekend! We had to constantly remind him to be gentle. He's a boy! He doesn't know what "gentle" is!

And Uncle Brady holding his nephew.

WOO-HOO! We're all outside playing and ready for a great weekend!!

Ahhhh...

Nice, baby, nice. Colton could not stay away from Max all weekend!
Colton had absolutley no interest in any of the water play. The poor kid just sweat out the weekend playing with all the cool toys. Lord know how he loves the Cozy Coupe.

Colton's favorite game all weekend was trying to escape the back yard. Anytime the door was left open or our heads were turned, the kid was gone! Stinker.

Cousins. Buddies.

Will and Kyla played so well together. They spent a lot of time in (and out of) the sandbox.

Here they're cooling off.

Whoops! Darn pool is slippery.

Slip and Slide

Judaya and Will were going down the Slip and Slide like it was nobody's business. My kids... not so much.
Here's Judaya showing her stuff.

And Will...

The only way Kyla would go down the Slip and Slide is if the water was turned off. Whatever works.

Even Brady has to give it a try. I guess he didn't get the memo. "We're too old!" With our luck someone would break a hip.

Fireworks!!!

The kids were so excited for the fireworks. Here they're all sitting so patiently on the blanket. They just loved their glow-in-the-dark necklaces. Even Max had one!

Boy, does Kyla look excited or what?

Will (2-1/2), Justina (29), Max (3 mos.), Colton (21 mos.), Judaya (9), and Kyla (3-1/2)

We were all a little nervous to see how the kids were going to react. Luckily, Max fell asleep right before the fireworks started and slept through the entire thing! Judaya loved them, of course. And Will was a little scared at first. Kyla seemed to do okay sitting in Daddy's lap. Colton was so funny. As soon as the first firework went off, he just said, "Whoa," and slowly backed into my lap. Then he covered his eyes only to spread his fingers and watch the fireworks.

OOOOO...... AHHHHH.......
