Fishing with Dad

After practicing casting for a week, the kids finally got to fish with Dad. I don't know who was more excited, Brady or the kids. Here they're patiently waiting for Dad to get their lines ready.

While she was waiting, Kyla wanted to try out her sandal/water shoe. She promptly decided it was too cold for her.

While Colton waited, he practiced casting/stabbing a couple more times.

And the first catch goes to...

KYLA!!
She decided she didn't want to cast her own line out into the water. So Dad or I would cast the line, set the hook and let her reel in her catch.

Colton had similar feelings to casting into the water. Funny as excited as they were to practice as soon as we got to the water neither one wanted to cast. Crazy. Anyway...

Colton's first catch. I wish I had been videoing this. He reeled in his fish and as the fish got closer and closer, Colton got more and more scared. When he finally pulled the fish out of the water, he dropped his pole and backed away crying. He was done! Brady was so upset. "My boy doesn't like to fish!" Kyla quickly piped up, "I'll be your fishing buddy, Daddy!" Atta girl!

Colton found a better way to "fish"...

Another fish for Kyla!

Another fish for Colton!

And another fish for Kyla! This one she set the hook all by herself!

Colton had a blast just running around. We were at the boat access so we went and sat in the grass to watch the boats coming and going. He loved watching them load on and off the trailers.

Brady saw a big bass jumping out of the water and he couldn't take it anymore. He had to throw a line in for himself. And since Colton wasn't going to use his Snoopy Rod...

The kids were just itching to go on the dock. It was a busy place with boats coming and going but Brady found a couple of minutes to take the kids for a quick walk down the dock and back.

What a fun morning! Kyla has asked several times since if we can go fishing again.

Parade!

Who doesn't love a parade? Here's Kyla with her friend Nora. The kids were so excited for all the candy! They made out like bandits!

Colton and his buddy Gabe sharing the chair.

Here they are patiently waiting and ready to pounce on the first piece of candy they see.

Holy cow, Colton! We had the kids put all the candy in a bag and we split it up after the parade. That way we had some control of sugar intake.

Okay, so Mom had some when the kids weren't looking. Can you blame me? Those little Nerds things are good!
Well, we get back to house and all of a sudden the girls had swimming suits on. Now keep in mind we all had sweatshirts and jeans on and the pool was not heated. They didn't care! They hopped right in! Crazy kids.

Well the boys couldn't let the girls show them up! Here goes Colton. However, this is as close as he got to the water. He wasn't going in there!

After swimming, Uncle Becky drew a nice warm bath and we threw all four kids into the tub. Picture it... 4 kids in one tub. There were elbows and knees everywhere! With the little room they had, Colton and Gabe still found room to wrestle. With jammies on the kids cuddled up on the couch for a movie. What a night!

Fun With the Cousins

Mr. Caden found a new favorite toy. You should have heard the giggles! Nobody appreciates a fart like Caden.

Kyla and Noah cuddled on the couch. Okay, Noah was just minding his own business and Kyla cuddled up to him. She loves her Noah. So cute.

The adults needed some quiet time so we threw in Scooby Doo.

Helping Daddy.

Well the tree we planted last spring didn't make it. So, one cold rainy morning Brady went out to dig it up so we could exchange it for a new birch tree. Colton wanted to help. So far the new birch is looking good. Keep your fingers crossed.

Busted!

Yeah, I don't know what he was doing here. All I know is there was salt EVERYWHERE. He was having a great time. Boys will be boys.

Helping Mommy.

One morning out of the blue Kyla decided she wanted to wash the breakfast dishes. She even brought my dishes over to the sink! I drew some water and let her at it! Of course Colton wanted to wash too. Monkey see, monkey do.
