After practicing casting for a week, the kids finally got to fish with Dad. I don't know who was more excited, Brady or the kids. Here they're patiently waiting for Dad to get their lines ready.
While she was waiting, Kyla wanted to try out her sandal/water shoe. She promptly decided it was too cold for her.
While Colton waited, he practiced casting/stabbing a couple more times.
And the first catch goes to...
KYLA!!
She decided she didn't want to cast her own line out into the water. So Dad or I would cast the line, set the hook and let her reel in her catch.
Colton had similar feelings to casting into the water. Funny as excited as they were to practice as soon as we got to the water neither one wanted to cast. Crazy. Anyway...
Colton's first catch. I wish I had been videoing this. He reeled in his fish and as the fish got closer and closer, Colton got more and more scared. When he finally pulled the fish out of the water, he dropped his pole and backed away crying. He was done! Brady was so upset. "My boy doesn't like to fish!" Kyla quickly piped up, "I'll be your fishing buddy, Daddy!" Atta girl!
Colton found a better way to "fish"...
Another fish for Kyla!
Another fish for Colton!
And another fish for Kyla! This one she set the hook all by herself!
Colton had a blast just running around. We were at the boat access so we went and sat in the grass to watch the boats coming and going. He loved watching them load on and off the trailers.
Brady saw a big bass jumping out of the water and he couldn't take it anymore. He had to throw a line in for himself. And since Colton wasn't going to use his Snoopy Rod...
The kids were just itching to go on the dock. It was a busy place with boats coming and going but Brady found a couple of minutes to take the kids for a quick walk down the dock and back.
What a fun morning! Kyla has asked several times since if we can go fishing again.
